Weight: 218 lbs
Pulse: 67 bpm
Blood Pressure: 126/86 (mmHg)

I got my blood-pressure machine back from my parents. This reading is a lot lower than one I took yesterday. I took that one after climbing some stairs, then resting for about 2 min. That reading was about 20/10 higher. It's suggested that you rest for 10 min before taking a reading.

I'm measuring my BP and pulse just after waking, sitting up in bed, but before getting out of bed. Oh -- all measurements are on my left arm.

2006-07-30: 217

Weight: 217 lbs
Pulse: 68 bpm

I wonder if there's a glitch in the scale, or if I'm just dehydrated. Maybe there's a time-lag from reducing my eating to the effects. Once I've got more data, it'll be interesting to see the variance; is it normal to fluctuate by two pounds from one day to another?

How to tell whether you're drinking enough water: is your urine clear?

Another interesting note: I eat off small plates, at home. This was accidental, as our normal dinner plates don't fit in our cupboards. This seems gimmicky, but it helps. Sedentary people need surprisingly little food to survive. Most of us have been calibrated way high: we get used to eating way too much.

As part of this process, I'm trying to wait until I'm physically hungry before I eat. I've noticed a difference between hunger and craving. Hunger is a discomfort or pain I feel in my stomach. When I'm craving something, I mostly feel it in my mouth -- mouth watering.

If you're craving something (mouth watering), just drink some water. If your stomach is starting to hurt, then eat.

Weight: 220 lbs.
Heart Rate: 67

I had a busy day at work, today. It's a lot easier to eat less when you're chasing deadlines. Interestingly, taking pictures of the food is just enough of an inconvenience that I tend not to snack.
